More calcium, protein, etc. for breastfeeding mothers
October 28, 2007This week I injured my right leg joint when I stretched my body right after waking up in the morning. I am used to stretching every time I wake up. This morning, my left arm made a snap when I did my usual rousing-routine.
What’s happening to my bones? Do I lack calcium? Does breastfeeding an infant depletes my own supply of calcium?
One article say that a breast fed infant depends on the mother’s milk for her main source of nutrition. That’s why the mother needs about 500 extra Kcal/day or more. She also needs more protein and other vitamins and minerals.
Is my present diet enough to handle breastfeeding my baby? I still have to review my daily intake based on the recommended foods:
Milk, cheese, eggs, beans or peanut butter, cereal, carrots, tuna fish and salmon; these foods are rich in calcium, vitamin A, protein, iron…
