Eating healthy

April 5, 2010

A bowl of fresh vegetable salad for dinner.

I vowed to eat healthy to lose unwanted fats in my tummy by eating more vegetables and fruits and less of carbohydrates and sweets. I seldom cooked veggies coz it involves peeling and cutting/dicing which takes time to prepare but my family likes eating it fresh. I am happy that my 2 year old daughter likes to munch on cucumber or carrots and actually loves eating lettuce.

I usually make this vegetable salad that’s easy to prepare which we all love to eat.

Ingredients:

lettuce (washed and torn into small pieces)

canned corn kernels

tomatoes (washed and sliced)

cucumber (washed and sliced)

olive oil

vinegar

sugar

water

I just mix everything together.  I don’t have exact measurements for each ingredients.  :) And since I do this often, I already know how to make it with (almost) eyes closed. :)

Investment opportunities in gold coins

October 23, 2009

Are you aware that having gold coins can help protect portfolios from inflation and devaluation for many years already?

I was told in Singapore since their land is limited; people are encouraged by their government to invest in gold.  Some invest in bullion gold while others invest in rare gold coins.  These are liquid assets which they can sell anytime and is readily accepted around the world.  With the internet, gold owners can even sell or trade their gold coins online easily.  But this should be done with professional assistance such as the experts from Monaco Rare Coin, who will help you, build a world class rare coin portfolio in a cost-effective way.

If you’re looking for investment opportunities, try collecting rare gold coins.  It’s a highly profitable investment.

Be treated like a queen

September 11, 2009

The days are getting colder and the shades of the trees are slowly changing.  This reminds me that summer will soon be over.  All the more reason to take advantage of the last remaining weeks of summer just like my in-laws and friends are doing.  They’re on vacation right now! Not together but separately with their own partners. Good for them.  I don’t know if there’s still a chance for us to hie off to a beach resort before autumn comes.

Travel made easy by Travelgrove

August 22, 2009

Even before summer came, I was already choosing in mind which European city to travel to.  I have long wanted to visit Rome, and we also have an invitation to visit Barcelona by hubby’s brother.  I spent most of my mornings checking out different web sites, looking for the best value in flights and also hotel rates for our planned vacation.  It was a tiring task hopping from one site to another, hoping to find the best deal of all.  I was then thinking, “Wouldn’t it be nice if there’s just one site I could log in to and search for all our travel needs?”

Little did I know that this was actually possible with Travelgrove.  If you haven’t heard of it yet, then it’s a dream come true for every traveler.  Travelgrove is a search engine for travelers looking for the best deals in airfares, hotel rates, car rentals, and cruise and vacation packages.  They scour the entire web for good deals and presents to users the data for comparison.  The users then choose the best value for their money, which to me is just awesome!  Yes! They do the job for you! Think about the time and effort you can save in trip planning with such a great service as this.

Webhosting sites

April 18, 2009

Beware of scams in the internet!  There are plenty!  Even webhosting deals can be a scam.  When looking for a web hosting, don’t be fooled by deals that are too good to be true.  Chances are there’s a catch especially in the TOS.  It’s advisable to read those fine prints; who knows what they’ve written there.  A cheap webhosting with great features doesn’t necessarily mean great service. So what to do?

Do a research.  Look up for some guide on how to choose a good webhosting (either for personal use or for business use); what features to look for, the prices, etc.  There’s a webhosting guide which you can browse and compare different hosting companies.  The current Best 10 Web Hosting Sites is listed in Webhosting Choice.  This website offers many informative articles in webhosting, domain, scams, bandwidth and a lot more.  If you’re new to webhosting check out their quick start guide.  It explains the things you need to create your own web site which includes a web host.

Rainy weekend

It’s raining, it’s pouring…  Oh yes, I thought we’ll have continuous sunny days but today I was surprised by the rain.  I checked my trusty weather forecast website and they said that the weekend’s gonna be a wet one. What a shame!  I was planning to bring our little girl to the grassy riverbanks but if it’s raining, it won’t be a nice time to go then.  Huhuhu…. I wonder what we’ll do to make our child enjoy her weekend.  I don’t like bringing her to the malls coz she likes to touch the displays once we go inside the stores.  Hohummm…

Maybe I’ll just let her dad play with her while I do my assignments.  She’s already happy just spending time with any of us, where ever it is.

Street parking

April 17, 2009

It’s a very unusual sight to see the streets empty on a Friday morning.  Even on holidays or vacation breaks, the streets are filled-up with cars.  So where did all the cars go on this day?

Well, that day there was a scheduled cleaning of the road which started at 7 in the morning till 4 in the afternoon.  Hubby had to wake up before 7 to park the car somewhere.  He was fortunate to find a vacant spot not far from our place.  Oh yes, residents park their cars on the streets here in Prague!  But you have to be sure you’re parking on a space where it’s allowed or else you car will be towed!

Silver investment

April 16, 2009

The advantage of having money is that when good opportunities come, you’re ready to welcome it with open arms.  There have been several investment proposals offered to me and my husband the past years and we’ve boldly invested our money on these.

For beginners, a good venue for investment is in precious metals.  You might have heard from friends or in the news how people are putting their money in gold or silver.  In Singapore, it’s common for the people there to buy and own as much gold.  In fact a friend told me that their government is encouraging them to invest in precious metals because they lack the real properties to invest on.  Though gold is the famous precious metal, the demand for silver has now grown because of its unique properties and many usages.  This alone is a guarantee that investing in silver is a wise idea.

Monaco Rare Coin is a company that can help you in this matter.  They are rare coin experts which provide access to a wide range of grade coins investment. Being involved in various aspects of rare coin market, they know very well how to serve your investment needs.  They even assist in trading coins online by providing your very own Monaco personal representative so you will get your money’s worth.

The beauty of spring

April 13, 2009

It’s a joy to see flowers blooming even those that are in the meadows and to see trees coming back to life again.  Ahhh Spring!  You’ve finally come!   We’ve been taking advantage of the beautiful and warm days we’re having; we’re out almost everyday, not in the nearby playground or around the neighborhood but in other interesting places such as the zoo, botanical garden, parks…  If there’s one person we made happy with our trips, that would be our daughter.  She enjoys running free on grassy fields.

How about you?  How’s your Spring so far?

When friends turn to enemies

February 7, 2009

They say that the worst enemy you could ever have is your friend.  Being friends with that person meant opening up your secrets, dreams and your inner self, but once the relationship goes sour, the friend can be a threat.  She can tell these secrets to other people or use what she knows about you to her advantage.  Even getting into relationships such as friendships means risking; risking your feelings, risking your love and risking your trust.  Are you willing to take the risk? Wonderful friendships happen when you take these risks.  It’s all up to you to decide which side to take and to discern if that certain person is worthy of your trust.

Picnic or not?

I’m not sure if an outdoor picnic is a good idea to do today.  It’s sunny but the temperature is only 12C. Brrr.. it will be chilly.   We’re waiting for the temperature to reach its highest today, predicted at 17C, that should be warm enough  I guess.  But the thought of the juicy and mouth-watering grilled pork gives me the push to go out.  Coz when autumn comes; I know we won’t ever have an outdoor picnic again.

Shopping at Allegro Medical

September 3, 2008

I can remember few years ago when  my parents wanted a digital sphygmamometer  so they can monitor their blood pressure.  They saw one from their friend, but they were told it was sent by their daughter from the US. They scouted several stores within our place and found some but the brands weren’t of good quality.  In the end they just bought regular one from a pharmacy.

Anyway, with the influx of online stores, shopping isn’t a hassle anymore.  And with a shopping site such as Allegro Medical, customers can now conveniently shop online for whatever products they want.  Aside from medical supplies, they also sell exercise and fitness equipment, maternity supplies and health supplements among other things.

Shopping isn’t frustrating anymore.  In fact, it’s FUN!

Unhealthy eating habit

I’ve been eating ice cream almost daily lately.  Not much but to think that it’s getting to be a usual thing makes me blame it for the bulge in my tummy.  Waaaa!  Some of my pants wouldn’t close anymore when I button it!  What shall I do?  Stay away from unhealthy food and exercise? Would these two lessen make my tummy flat?

Get your own dedicated hosting

August 29, 2008

This site is the very first one I had among my many free blog accounts.  That was two years ago when I decided to join blogging as a way to express my thoughts.  Back then I didn‘t care about having my own domain and dedicated hosting.  My blogging was a hobby which I wasn’t willing to spend a dollar on.  At that time, owning a domain and hosting was an expense, something that I’d rather not have.

But that perception changed.  As I started to find many ways to monetize my site, I finally found out that having your own site has many advantages than relying on free hosted blogs.  It was then that I looked for a hosting company.  It wasn’t easy as there are plenty of companies competing with each other, offering irresistable packages that sounded very tempting.  With the help of my husband and brother, I was able to pick a hosting provider for my sites.  One tip my brother gave me was getting a dedicated web hosting as it gives you your very own IP address unlike other hosts that only provides shared IP address.

In Canada, its the Canadian Web Hosting that provides them with reliable dedicated server hosting.  If you look up their site, you can see the hosting plan comparison and the server details, all these informations are very essential in choosing a hosting company.

Moods…

August 25, 2008

Why does the weather affect how we feel?  I know it’s kinda pathetic and that we should conquer our feelings and not be dictated by weather or other outside forces especially those we can’t control, BUT…

I wish sunny and warm days are longer.  I wish it’s not bleak today.  I wish I’m out today, BUT…Okay then let me put on that happy cap so I can be happy no matter how gloomy it is outside.

Boat handling services and equipment

August 16, 2008

When we were in Finland, I had the chance to see up close the sailboats docked at the Pori pier.  It was summer so the owners are taking advantage of the sunny weather to sail though they said that this year’s summer is the coolest so far.  Pori is quite far and one would wonder how these boats are shipped.  Then I read about Marine Travelift which manufactures and provides boat handling equipment that includes mega boat Hoists.  If you’ve been to boat shows, you’d see them showcasing their equipment.   They’re also very visible in sailing events such as the famous America’s Cup race with recent one in Spain.  They provide the equipment of the sailing teams. With such accomplishment and expertise, customers are assured of quality equipment and good service.
